DirecTV : Fundamental Guide On DirecTV Satellite Deals

Published by Jim under Direct TV

DirecTV was launched in 1994 by General Motors subsidiary Hughes Electronics. At the time of writing, DirecTV has over 15 million customers in the U.S. and nearly 2 million in Latin America, achieving total revenues of $3.15 billion in year 2005. Although challenged by Dish Network aggressively, DirecTV remain as the largest U.S. satellite TV company and their growing pace had never slow down.

DirecTV was the first high-powered Direct Broadcast Satellite System (DBS) service in the world. As satellite broadcast via DBS system is done in the Ku-Band where the satellite dish size requirement is smaller, DirecTV users normally use a fixed 18” diameter round dish or 18” x 24” elliptical dish to receive its signals.

DirecTV programming

DirecTV offers a wide range of programming selections. Users could acquire up to 225 standard channels with their services. Above of that, DirecTV has exclusive rights to some sports channels. Sports packages like NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings, NY Yankee Games, NBA League Pass and NFL Sunday Ticket allow you access to almost every NFL or NBA game.

Some dealers also offer free incentive gifts like DVD players, home theater system, digital camera, and free movie channels. All these free gifts come along with one condition, you must commit to a contract in buying their service for 12 to 18 months.

Comparing with Dish Network

Interestingly, the satellite system services offered by both DirecTV and Dish Network are practically interchangeable — both offer more than 200 program channels, integrated digital video recording (DVR) capabilities, high definition TV (HDTV) capabilities, stunning picture and sound quality and award-winning 24-hour customer service departments.
The slight differences between Dish Network and DirecTV are the pricing and programming. DirecTV’s packages are a little more expensive, however they do normally include more channels. DISH Network offers more International and movie channels.

Comparing with Cable TVs

DirecTV offers 100% digital audio and picture quality, wide selection on programming options, HD ready channels, and the monthly cost is lower than most of the cable services. Generally DirecTV are giving much better services compare cable services. The only advantage that we see from cable TV is that you could access Internet via cable services. The Internet connection thru cable is faster and more stable compare to satellite Internet, which sometimes would be affected by the weather condition.

However professional installation is recommended, as it requires some skill in connecting complicated wiring in the system. Standard installation is furnished free by most of the DirecTV dealers, users actually do not need to worry about this issue.

Reason one, hassles free ordering environment. DirecTV retailers websites offer clear package information stated and normally tools furnished in the website allows you to sum up the money you are paying. Reason two, better bargains. Online DirecTV retailers are those who could afford the extra bargains as online retailers have extremely low start up cost. acquire more free gifts that you could ever imagine through ordering online. The competition on the Internet is so steep where online retailers are now loosing the up front money to win their market share in the satellite business.

How the legitimate online retailers work?

You place an order with an online satellite TV system retailer. Some actually have tools on their webpage that allows customers to design systems perfectly matched to their home. At the time of ordering you would schedule a time that a local professional installer could come to your home and install the system. Dish Network Vs DirecTV - To Rent Or Own

Published by Jim under Direct TV

Satellite television long ago outstripped cable in popularity all across the nation. Now the big debate is between the two leading suppliers of satellite TV, DirecTV and Dish Network. Each of the services offers a comprehensive channel lineup, both of them offer DVRs and both of them have pay per view and several other similarities (though DirecTV is the undisputed HDTV leader). One significant area that consumers check debatable, though, is the option of renting or owning their equipment.

Both methods have pros and cons. Let’s look at owning the equipment first. DirecTV is the only satellite company that gives you the option to own your equipment. The good thing about this method is that once purchased, the equipment is yours to keep. You could use it, sell it or throw it away; it doesn’t matter, you bought it. This method also saves some money in the end as you do not have to constantly “rent” your equipment for additional fees. However, if you change satellite service providers, you are now stuck with a dish and receiver (maybe more!) that you no longer need.

Renting your equipment, though, also has some benefits. Dish Network rents their equipment, rather than selling it. as this equipment never belongs to you, you could send it back when you change service providers. In addition, repairs to the equipment are at the cost of the company (minus a service charge, of course), unlike with the owning method. However, as you are not purchasing the equipment, the rental fee is actually part of your subscription payment and you would pay this as long as you are using Dish Network.

So, both methods entail costs, though one is completely up front and the other is throughout the life of the contract. There are ways around both issues, though. Many satellite television installation companies offer free systems with free installation. Is this really free? Well, yes and no. They are usually only applicable for new accounts and they require additional programming. Basic programming almost never comes with any perks. To access real savings, you have to upgrade your programming. This could be almost any upgraded package, though, so you acquire a wide range of options. Sports packages, family packages, comprehensive packages that include almost all available channels and HD packages could all be used to acquire free systems and free installation.

Satellite Buyers Guide - DirecTV Vs Dish Network

Published by Jim under Direct TV

Anyone who’s looking for satellite TV deals would be asking this common question: Dish Network or DirecTV? Both Dish Network and DirecTV offer quite the same programming packages in close price ranges; more over, their satellite system, DVR functions, and promotion free gifts are quite alike as well. Considering all the similarities on their services, it is not surprise that most satellite shoppers faced dilemma when choosing between Dish Network and DirecTV. However, there are still substantial differences between these two satellite companies when you dig deep enough. The purpose of this article is to sort out the plus and minus point for both Dish and DirecTV which in turn, assist you to choose between them.

Dish Network

There are lots of advantage with Dish Network when compare to DirecTV.

If you own a HD television, I am sure you wish to have as much HD channels as you can. In this case, Dish Network is the option you should go with, as Dish Network is offering the most HD channels in the States (31 national HD channels plus a big chunk of local channels in HD including their latest release in HD regional sports network). In contrast, DirecTV has less HDTV programming to offer (11 national HD channels at time of writing).

Despite HD channels availability, monthly subscription fees is also lower with Dish Network. Dish Network monthly fees starts from $19.99/mo (with DishFamily); DirecTV, $29.99/mo (with DirecTV Family). Both programming package offers 40+ programming options but the monthly price turned out $10 in difference.

For other standard programming packages, Dish Network America’s Top 100, Top 200, Top 250, and Everything Pak cost $29.99, $42.99, $52.99, $89.99 monthly; compare with DirecTV alike package: option $39.99/mo, option Xtra $54.99/mo, Plus $59.99/mo, and Premier $99.99/mo – the difference should tell you clearly who’s the winner.

On the other hand, there is weakness with Dish Network services as well. The main negative point with Dish Network services is their customer service. Dish Network does offer 24-7 live call customer support. However, the quality of the support is where it should be improved. Many complain that the persons who answer customer calls hardly speak English and do not have sufficient technical knowledge in answering their questions. A simple search of ‘Dish Network complains’ on the Internet should offer you enough customer feedbacks on the problem.

DirecTV

DirecTV is so far the top satellite company in United States in term of customer subscriptions.
The main advantage DirecTV has in the competition is their special sport package subscription. On top of their standard programming, DirecTV subscribers acquire more sport actions than Dish Network users. A good example is DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Tickets; you would acquire 14 live games per week! That’s a whole lot more NFL actions than what Dish Network subscribers acquiring. Beside NFL, DirecTV also owns some other sport event broadcast rights like HotPass (for Nascar race) and Mega March Madness (extra college basketball games). The amount of live sport game broadcast in DirecTV is incredibly big.
Nevertheless, as said at above, there are a few minus points with DirecTV when compare with Dish Network – mainly in term of the price and the HD channels.

Conclusion

The option between Dish Network and DirecTV is simple. If you prefer the tons of live sport games more than anything, DirecTV is your option. In case you could live with a little lesser live sport games on your TV, but more HD programs and in a cheaper monthly price, then you should go with Dish Network.

Satellite Television Services Match Up - DirecTV Versus Dish Network

Published by Jim under Direct TV

Dish Network and DirecTV are basically the only two companies left that offer satellite service. For those of us who live in the country and do not have access to cable, our only option is satellite television. Well, either that, or buy an antenna and attempt to acquire the signal of local stations.

DirecTV and Dish Network offer essentially the same service. The quality of the service is comparable. The number of channels is about the same. On the surface there does not appear to be much difference in the two.

Until recently, DirecTV was the only company offering high-speed internet via satellite dish. Dish Network has joined the ranks offering Wild Blue. DirecTV’s satellite internet service, called HughesNet and Wild Blue also are really comparable. The cost for equipment is about the same, the service is about the same. The monthly subscription price is about the same as well. Overall, there is not much difference in the two.

Dish Network offers many programming packages, some starting as low as $19.99, their entire programming packages are a much better deal than DirecTV. Dish Network, I have noticed with Dish Network, weather is less of a factor in reception. Rain and clouds have a noticeable effect on satellite television reception. However, Dish Network has fewer instances of outages than its competition, DirecTV.

DirecTV customer service is not as efficient and friendly as Dish Network. Both offer great customer service but in comparison, Dish Network wins out. A few years back there were talks of a merger of the two companies. The merger never came to fruition, and in my opinion, this was an excellent option. If the two companies had merged, consumers would have little option in their options for satellite television. The company’s would have become a monopoly with little to no competition.

Dish Network allows customers more of an ala carte selection. If there are channels you wish to have without purchasing a much more expensive package, Dish Network offers many channels in their ala carte selection. We chose to have the Outdoor Channel and the Encore package. We do not currently subscribe to any of the movie channels.

DirecTV also offers ala carte selections, however they cost more in general. They only offer the Encore channels if your purchase a much more expensive movie channel package. To acquire the channels you prefer you frequently need to subscribe to a much more expensive package.

Both companies are extremely successful, and I have used both of them at different times. as Dish Network has jumped on the satellite internet bandwagon, Dish Network is by far, the best company for your satellite needs. The prices are lower, the service is great, and the quality of service is exceptional!

So, when doing your satellite dish shopping, let price, quality, service, convenience, and technology be your guide and choose Dish Network over the competition. The service you receive would make your option worth it! Packages and pricing could be found on the Dish Network website.

NFL Network Programming

Published by Jim under Direct TV

Are you looking for a list of NFL Network shows? The NFL Network is a specialty channel available with some cable and satellite companies that is owned by the National Football League. The network first launched on November 4, 2003. The NFL invested 100 million dollars to fund this fledgling network. Who makes up the programming of the NFL Network? NFL Films is responsible for much of the network’s programming, along with other ventures into commercials, TV productions and even feature films.

One of the most unique qualities of the network is its game highlights, game sounds, side line talk, and slow-mo instant reply. The network currently broadcasts out of Culver City, California. The network has earned its share of controversy in fearlessly dealing with such big name companies as Charter Cable, Dish Network, Comcast, Cox Communications and Insight Communications. In fact, five major cable providers have chosen not to carry the NFL Network, including Carter and Time Warner Cable. What is the major argument concerning? The NFL Network prefers its channel placed on basic cable with a cost of .61 cents per subscriber. However, many of the major cable companies prefer to place the network on a sports tier, believing that the channel is only of moderate interest to NFL fans, as it has few live games and a long “off-season.” However, it is currently available on Comcast, Cox and Insight along with satellite providers Dish and DirecTV.

What kind of shows does the NFL Network broadcast? There are many shows that are broadcast, some of which appear periodically or even once a year. Annual events that are highlighted on the network include the Hall of Fame Game, Inside Minicamp and Inside Training Camp, NFL Draft, NFL Preseason, NFL Scouting Combine, Live from the Owners Meeting, Live from the Pro Bowl, Live from the Rookie Symposium and Live from the Super Bowl. Lastly, there’s the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies. Some of the network’s current shows include America’s Game: The Super Bowl Champions, College Football Now, NFL Classics, NFL Follies, NFL Game of the Week and Put Up Your Dukes. Put Up Your Dukes is a popular show and is a sports television talk show that features Jamie Dukes as well as contributors like Deion Sanders, NFL.com writers Adam Schefter and Pat Kirwan and FOX commentator Brian Baldinger. The focus of the show is to debate NFL news, though it also has an interactive system that lets viewers send questions to the host to be answered on the air.

Another popular show is Hard Knocks, a reality sports show that follows a select National Football League team through its training camp through an up close and personal perspective. The series covers the team’s preparations as well as inside jokes, pranks, family matters and game strategy. It has won an Emmy Award for its outstanding achievement.

The NFL Network has plenty of great shows on all year round. If you love the NFL then ask your local provider about the NFL Network!

The Abc Of DirecTV Satellite Television

Published by Jim under Direct TV

They have thirteen million homes tuning on a daily basis. Direct TV offer over 225 channels of digital programming for their viewers. These amounts of channels would definitely keep families entertained. With a study based on El Segundo in Southern California, Direct TV has been providing satellite TV programming to the public as the summer of 1994.

as the beginning, Direct TV has already built up their system with seven satellites in geosynchronous orbit. This is how Direct TV is able to offer high quality TV to their subscribers. With the improvement of technology, satellite TV users have benefited the most because of the impact of digital compression.

Initially, digital compression technology was only able to let each satellite based transponder to process one channel resulting in only 25-31 channels being transponded per satellite. With this, cable TV companies were able to take advantage over satellite TV companies with the capability of providing more channels. However, this trend all changed in 1993.

Satellite TV started to have an edge over cable TV after the introduction of the first class DBS commercial satellite. After this satellite was launch, it really changed the way of TV entertainment. This new satellite contains 16 onboard radically polarized DBS Ku band transponders. This enables multi digital signals to transmit via the satellite. Each of these satellites could broadcast 120 watts per transponder.

This new technology has turned satellite TV programming as the best TV service for millions of home across North America at a really affordable cost. Before, satellite TV was only popular among a small quantity of viewers because it’s expensive cost and few channels.

In 1994, a new 18 inch dish was introduced by Direct TV that offers wider option in family programming, a feature that has made satellite TV so popular nowadays. This change to satellite TV began even in 1994 when satellite TV became a really popular product.

Then, Direct TV solidifies their position as one of the best satellite TV providers by launching their second satellite. This new satellite enabled Direct TV to offer over 150 channels. This amount of channels was a great edge over cable TV that was only able to offer 35 channels at most. as then, Direct TV has never looked back to set new standards in broadcasting offering interactive programming, high definition, multicultural and DVD option to families.
